Cumbria and the Lake District is aiming to become the ‘Adventure Capital of the UK’.
Just as New Zealand is often referred to as the world’s adventure holiday destination, the Lake District and Cumbria hope to achieve something similar for the UK
Cumbria Tourism aims to promote the region’s natural ‘great outdoors’ environment as a destination for outdoor activities.
The bid was launched on 23rd June by CountryFile star Julie Bradbury and Staveley-based rock climber and mountaineer Leo Houlding at Cumbria Tourism’s annual general meeting at the Rheged Centre in Penrith.
Mountaineer Leo said: “We need to be reminding people what they can do in Cumbria’s higher, wilder places. We want to encourage people to come to the Adventure Capital of the UK and embrace our landscape because it’s good for mind, body and spirit.
Cumbria Tourism hopes to tap into the growing popularity of Adventure holidays and help everyone enjoy and experience life in the great outdoors.
Cumbria Tourism …“The end goal is to help tourism businesses in Cumbria become more successful and increase the amount that tourism brings into Cumbria’s economy.”
Let’s hope the Cumbria Tourist Board does a grand job as the Lakes are here to be enjoyed by everyone, it truly is great outdoors.
