Crummock Water Swim Hike

From: £79.99

The Crummock Water Swim Hike is a perfect trip for adventurous and experienced open water swimmers who want to stretch out and cover a bit of distance in this stunning corner of the Lakes. On this trip, there is no emphasis on fast-paced swimming although we will expect you to be a confident, strong swimmer and safety-aware in the water. All abilities will be catered for and we will swim in small pods of swimmers of similar ability so that you all get a good swim in at your own pace and hope to have a lot of fun along the way.

The hike to our swim get-in point is a great way to warm up before our swim and we will get a good view of our swim route along the way to give you a feel for what lies ahead. The walking will be easy-paced, and we will follow the mountain tracks and trails that lead along the eastern side of Crummock Water. When we arrive at our swim spot, we will get changed, stow our gear in the support boats and go swimming!

Like all our large lakes, the swimming experience in Crummock is ever-changing, making for a very stimulating swim. Swimming beneath the sweeping slopes of Mellbreak towards the peninsular of low Ling Crag will provide you with a wild swimming experience to remember.

Product Description

The Crummock Water Swim Hike is the highlight of one of our most popular swimming weekends. Because of that, here it is as one of our Adventure swimming Days. The Crummock Water Swim Hike provides a classic Lake District experience. This valley really was made for exploring and it is a beautiful part of the county, simply made for open water swimmers.

The Crummock Swim Hike is perfect for the outdoor swimmer who loves to be out all day. Under the guidance of our excellent swim guide team, you are sure to have a great day out. Standing at the pebble beach at Lanthwaite Wood and looking south to Buttermere can be an intimidating sight for the uninitiated. You just know that a real swimming adventure lies ahead.  Yet the distance of just over 4km is not too much to overcome for a good swimmer. Just remember… we have a good break for lunch at Low Ling Crag.

After a break for lunch, we have the time to explore the nearby fells, including the cleft that leads to Scale Force. This can be a mini-adventure in itself! At the end of the day, you will be left with that quietly satisfied feeling that comes with time well spent outdoors. We look forward to your company.

Crummock Water Swim Hike Itinerary

As always in mountainous areas, our itinerary is dependent on the weather, but we hope to enjoy all that the Crummock Water Swim Hike has to offer. We will meet at Buttermere Village with the meeting place, venue and itinerary to be confirmed upon booking. We can provide all the equipment you will need for this swim with our low-cost hire.
