  1. Debbie Tyler

Good morning, I just wanted to thank you for a fabulous swim yesterday at Ullswater. After being really nervous at the start, your team (especially you Pete) made me feel very relaxed and I thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

This is my first time in the Lakes, we’ve travelled up from the Midlands, and I’ll definitely be coming back to you guys for another swim adventure.

Thanks again, I’ll be spreading the word to all my swimmy friends! Regards, Debbie 😁

  2. Jane

    Hi there
Safely back in Scottish Borders and recovering from a fab day .
It’s the hardest morning of swimming I’ve done and though I probably didn’t look like it, I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to all the swim the lakes team, for looking after us. For encouraging me and although I was so, so slow, was never made to feel it.
I plan to come back next time you do that swim to see if I can manage it without swallowing 5 gallons of Ullswater 😂😂😂.
    Many thanks once again
Jane (one of the skins swimmers)

How fit do I need to be for the Wild Swim?

For this adventure swim please ensure that you are comfortable swimming at-least 2 miles in open water such as lakes or sea. Confidence in open water in all conditions is essential, though it’s not a race so as long as you are a comfortable steady open water swimmer with other practice swims under your belt you’ll be most welcome.

There’s not much walking on this adventure as we start near to the lake edge, and as ever the emphasis is on adventure and enjoying the journey and surroundings.

How far will we swim?
Lake swimming: approx 4-5km

Can I hire a wetsuit?
Yes please hire at the time of booking if possible. Wetsuit hire here

What will the weather be like?

It could be sunny and still, it could be windy and raining, but we do know you are going to have a great time. Please check the weather forecast before you travel and bring suitable clothing and footwear.

How cold will the water be and do I need a wetsuit?

The lakes vary in temperature between 13-20 degrees for this time of year depending on the local weather conditions. We have swimming wetsuits to hire for a small fee, wetsuit hire can be booked online.

If you would like to swim without a wetsuit and are conditioned to swimming in cool water, please email us summarising your experience of temperatures and length of time in water – thanks.

Wetsuits: Swims are in full swimming wetsuits for this trip (no shorties).
If you’d like to swim without a wetsuit please contact us to discuss your relevant non-wetsuit swimming experience, thanks.

Wetsuit Hire: Please book your wetsuit hire as soon as possible and at least 24hrs before your trip. Hire costs just £6 for a quality swimming wetsuit and wetsuits can be booked here. You can also ring 015394 33826.
